Elon Description

This treat is made much like sugared strawberries.

Peel 3 oranges with a knife, removing the white pith under the peel as you cut away the orange part of the peel.

Now slice the peeled oranges into bite sized pieces. Remove all the seeds or tough, pithy parts. Sprinkle with about 3 tablespoons of cane sugar per orange. Mix gently.

Cover and chill in the fridge for 2 to 4 hours and serve. Can also be served right away, but it won't have as much syrup developed.

This is Mom's recipe. She made it for me when I was a toddler, I still eat it as an adult. When I was very young, I struggled with eating oranges because the squirting juice strangling me, and because they were often too sour for me. This solved both issues.

This is always good for sore throats and fussy tummies, or any child intimidated by trying to eat an orange. It's definitely a great topping for french vanilla ice cream!

Optional: can also add a pinch of cinnamon or salt with the sugar when first mixed together if desired.
